Carmel Mission Foundation
Mission Foundation Executive Director, Stephanie Zelei, will give us a glimpse into the Mission’s past, from its founding in 1771 with the help of Fr. Junipero Serra, to itsdeteriorated condition in 1850, when it faced physical ruin. It was then the newly formed state of California, called it its own.
You won’t want to miss the saga of its restoration up to the present. Ms. Zelei’s presentation,
“Preserving the Past for Future Generations,” a saga of early Central Coast development and the political climate of the infant state, will bring you up to date on all the traumas, historical battles, architectural triumphs of our fabled mission.
