Procedure:
To apply for a grant from the Foundation, a nonprofit organization must complete the interactive Grant Application Form available on the Carmel Valley Women’s Club website (see link above) or download the form and mail it to the address included on the form. The form must be completed by March 31, 2026 (mailed applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2026). The grant application must include a statement(s) which clearly explains how the monies will be used to benefit individuals in Carmel Valley. The Foundation can ask for nominations of eligible nonprofit organizations from the CVWC membership during the year. Any member wishing to recommend an organization must ensure the applicant is informed of the April 1st deadline in order to be considered for the June distribution of monies.
The appointed Chair of the Community Allocations Committee (CAC) will meet with the committee members to review all written applications and statements of intent, and confirm the organization's eligibility. Reviewed applications will be ranked based on which organization addresses the beneficial use of the monies and how many individual(s) would benefit from the allocated monies. Those organizations with the highest ranking will be prioritized by the committee. The CAC will submit a slate of recommended organizations to the CVWC Foundation Board for their approval by May 1.
The CVWC Foundation Board will review the recommendations from the CAC and vote to provide grants.
Following the spring fundraiser, the Foundation Board will allocate a portion of the available funds to be used for community grants.
The final list of recipient organizations will be posted in the May Newsletter. Award letters will be sent to chosen organizations with an invitation for a representative to be the guest of CVWC at the June luncheon meeting where they will be awarded their checks. Any organization may bring materials to put on a display table at the luncheon venue. (Additional guest(s) the organization chooses to attend at the award ceremony will be responsible for the cost of their lunch).
CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY: Any board member or officer of the Foundation who also serves on the board or is an officer of a proposed recipient organization must identify such a relationship and abstain from voting for that organization.
